Pin Oak Terminals recently opened the new multi-product liquid marine terminal in Mt. Airy, Louisiana, following key investment from Mercuria Energy Group Ltd.
This local investment has boosted employment and economic opportunities for Louisiana, adding significant American manufacturing and energy jobs.
The Terminals are the result of nearly 14 months of construction, during which Pin Oak employed over 400 contractors, most from within the St. John the Baptist Parish in which they are located. Additionally, Pin Oak has hired over 600 people for well-paying positions from the local community to staff the Terminals.
The Terminals, located at mile marker 144.1 on the Mississippi River in Mt. Airy, consist of one dock, a two–bay truck rack, and four tanks capable of holding 424,000 barrels of refined products and biofuels. Construction will continue to add a second dock, as well as two Aframax ship docks, with the capabilities to hold 14 barges at the same time. Two railroads serve the Terminal and it has received Foreign Trade Zone status by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Once completed, the terminals will store up to 10 million barrels of crude oil, refined products, chemicals, and other liquids.
In addition to the American jobs created and economic investment in Louisiana, Pin Oak has donated food to the local community in times of need, contributed to the local theater program, and supplied monetary donations to local non-profit organizations, schools, and churches.
Pin Oak is dedicated to working with local Louisiana businesses as much as possible, while offering employment and economic opportunity to the community.
Pin Oak is supported by its strategic partners, foremost Mercuria, which secured the $100 million equity investment in December 2016 with Dauphine Midstream LLC. In April 2017, Mercuria worked with two key financing partners, ING Capital LLC and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation to complete the financing of Pin Oak.
The opening event was attended by senior Pin Oak executives, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, the Executive Director for the Port of South Louisiana Paul Aucoin, Port Commissioners, Parish President Natalie Robottom, the St. John the Baptist Parish Council, Sheriff Michael Tregre, and other high-level government officials.
