Alt-right protesters are organizing a “March on Google” next week, after the tech giant fired an employee over discussing gender differences in the workforce, The Hill reports.
The march was organized by Jack Posobiec, a far right web activist, and “a coalition of free speech activists around the United States”, according to the official “#MarchOnGoogle” site.
“We are going to raise awareness about Google’s one-sided bias and campaign against dissenting opinions and voices,” Posobiec told The Mercury News, adding that marches are scheduled to take place “anywhere Google has an office”, including, New York City, Boston, Washington D.C., Mountain View and Austin.
“Google is a monopoly, and it’s abusing its power to silence dissent and manipulate election results,” the website claims. “Their company YouTube is censoring and silencing dissenting voices by creating “ghettos” for videos questioning the dominant narrative. We will thus be Marching on Google!”
Google software engineer James Damore was ousted this week, following a circulation of a controversial anti-diversity memo. According to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the engineer’s memo broke the conduct code of the company.
Mercury News reported that march organizers have contacted James Damore to speak at their event.
