The Russian Defence Ministry said on Tuesday that Moscow scrambled two fighter jets yesterday to prevent two US drones from violating the Russian border over the Black Sea, Euractive reports.
The ministry statement on Telegram said that US drones on an air intelligence mission had been observed near Crimea and heading for the Russian border but altered the direction of their flight and left the area as a result of the actions of Russian anti-aircraft forces.
Previously on Monday, a Ukrainian cruise missile was downed by Russian air defences over the Black Sea near Crimea, Russia’s defence ministry said, while another Ukrainian drone flying towards Moscow was shot down in the early hours of Monday.
