In regards to the origins of COVID-19, Dr. Anthony Fauci stated that he is “totally open-minded,” but added that the scientific data “highly” implies it was not released from a lab, Fox News informed.
During a Sunday appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Fauci made the remarks. Margaret Brennan, the show’s host, questioned Dr. Anthony Fauci on China’s openness regarding the origins of COVID-19 and how the country’s dominant Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was responding to international calls for investigations.
Fauci continued by saying that all of the accumulated evidence, particularly in relation to the Chinese bringing animals from the wild into the Wuhan market that shouldn’t have been there, is taken into consideration when examination is done by highly qualified, international scientists without political agendas who have published in peer-reviewed journals. Strong evidence points to this being a natural occurrence.
In his subsequent remarks, Fauci criticized China for being opaque about the COVID-19’s origins and claimed that their failure to collaborate aroused suspicion when there may not have been any need for it. However, he refrained from calling China out for a “cover-up.”
Republicans will undoubtedly hold hearings for Fauci even though he is leaving his post as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in December. Republican legislators have demanded inquiries into Fauci’s management of the pandemic and his communications with Chinese health officials.
As he has done numerous times previously, Fauci stated that he would be more than willing to speak before the House. However, he made a light jab at Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., noting that his longtime foe would be unable to call him to account because Republicans were unable to seize control of the Senate in the midterm elections.
Paul, who promised to look into Fauci more when he gained re-election on November 8, at times grew angry when Fauci was questioned by him.
