Saudi Arabia to Host World Petroleum Congress in 2026

Saudi Arabia will host the World Petroleum Congress, a prominent global event that brings together countries and international organizations every three years, in Riyadh in 2026. 

The event brings together energy leaders from all over the world, as well as representatives from governments, other sectors, non-governmental organizations and international institutions.

The organizational committee of the World Petroleum Congress named Riyadh as the venue for the 25th edition of the event, which is in 2026. 

The event takes place every three years. The next one, the 24th edition of the conference, is scheduled for next year in Calgary, Canada, from Sept. 17 to 21, 2023. The previous conference was held in Houston, Texas, and brought together more than 5,000 attendees from more than 70 countries. 

The World Petroleum Congress is a catalyst for crucial conversations shaping the future of energy with key global leaders.

The massive energy event is a prominent global event that brings together countries and international organizations every three years to enhance cooperation in energy fields and provide solutions to main challenges facing the development of this vital sector, where the congress and exhibition receive much attention from specialists and visitors.

Director General of the World Petroleum Congress, Dr. Pierce Riemer, congratulated Saudi Arabia for being selected to host the 25th edition of the congress in Riyadh, as well for being the biggest oil-exporting country in the world and owning one of the world’s biggest oil reserves. 

Riemer said that this highlights Saudi Arabia’s importance globally, as well as its worthiness to host one of the most important meetings of energy in the world.

The triennial World Petroleum Congress is widely known as the “Olympics” of the petroleum industry and covers all aspects of the industry from technological advances in upstream and downstream operations to the role of natural gas and renewables, management of the industry and its social, economic and environmental impact. The World Petroleum Congress has an accompanying exhibition as well.

In addition, outside stakeholders such as governments, other industry sectors, NGOs and international institutions have also joined in the dialogue.
