Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the US on Tuesday of intentionally trying to drag on the conflict in Ukraine for as long as possible and of fueling conflicts elsewhere in the world, including Taiwan.
Speaking at a security conference in Moscow, Putin stated at on Tuesday that in its effort to implement the ‘anti-Russia’ project in Ukraine, Washington is pumping the regime in Kyiv with weapons – including heavy weapons – turning at the same time a blind eye to the spread of neo-Nazi ideology and the mass murder of the people of Donbas that are being used as cannon fodder for Kyiv troops.
Ukraine has been increasingly supplied with high-tech weapons – including M142 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, M777 howitzers, and combat drones – by both the US and its NATO allies.
The Russian president reiterated that by launching its military operation in Ukraine in late February, Moscow wanted to defend the Donbas people from genocide and to ensure the security of Russia and its citizens.
It is the intervention in Ukraine that pushed relations between Moscow and Washington into whirlwind chaos which resulted in a barrage of unprecedented Western sanctions that prompted Putin to bolster ties with countries in Africa and Asia, especially with China.
During his Tuesday address, he has shown full solidarity with key ally Beijing, slamming the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan as not only an adventure of an individual irresponsible politician but part of Washington’s purposeful, conscious strategy to destabilize the region and make chaotic the situation there and in the world.
China considers the self-ruled, democratic Taiwan as its territory and Putin is siding with it, calling Pelosi’s visit a brazen demonstration of disrespect for the sovereignty of other countries and accusing Washington of disrespecting international obligations by executing carefully planned provocation.
