According to disclosure documents examined by Fox News Digital, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., earned up to $100,000 in rental income during the pandemic despite advocating for the cancellation of rent, Fox News informed.
Tlaib’s most recent yearly financial disclosure report, which was submitted on Thursday, discloses that in 2021, she received between $15,001 and $50,000 in rental revenue from a residence in Detroit.
The Michigan Democrat stated the same rental revenue for 2020 in August of last year, which indicates that she now received between $30,000 and $100,000 in rent payments throughout the pandemic.
Despite co-sponsoring a measure with other “Squad” members that attempted to suspend rent during the pandemic, Tlaib nevertheless collected the rent payments.
Early in 2020, Tlaib co-sponsored a measure by Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., to “establish a nationwide cancellation of rents and house mortgage payments through the duration of the coronavirus epidemic” with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., and others.
The progressive firebrands later re-introduced the plan in March 2021, which would have eliminated rent through April 2022.
Not just Tlaib, but other “Squad” members who were collecting rent during the pandemic, wanted the rent to be cancelled.
Fox News reported last year that Pressley and her spouse acknowledged $5,000 to $15,000 in rental income from a Boston house until 2020.
Pressley still hasn’t submitted her required 2021 financial disclosure report, which is due this coming Saturday.
When Fox News Digital asked Tlaib’s congressional office about her rental income while she pushed to stop making rent payments, they did not respond right away.
