Former President Donald Trump has finally admitted he did not win the 2020 presidential election.
“I didn’t win the election,” Trump said in a video interview with a panel of historians.
The statement came while Trump attempted to make it sound like South Korea, China, and Iran were happy that he did not win the presidency.
Trump said that he tried to make South Korea pay more for military assistance from the U.S., claiming that South Korean President Moon Jae-in was one of the “happiest” world leaders after Joe Biden won the 2020 election.
Trump said that “by not winning the election,” Moon was the happiest, then rambled that actually China was the happiest, and settled on Iran being the happiest.
Alas, Trump still managed to toe his typical falsities, claiming the election was also “rigged and lost.”
The former president who lost his second election has refused to accept being defeated by Biden, and this blatant refusal has provoked attempts to overturn legitimate election results in key states in the court system. It also resulted in the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection on the Capitol.
Trump was the one who actually reached out to the panel of historians, as he claimed that he wanted to ensure “an accurate book” was produced.
The panel was convened by Princeton professor and editor of The Presidency of Donald Trump: A First Historical Assessment, Julian Zelizer. Zelizer said that it was obvious Trump does not understand how historians gather evidence and that he seemed to want approval from historians.
Trump said the group of historians was a “tremendous group of people.” Shortly after, Trump announced that this was the end of his interviews for books about his time in office.
Because Trump lost his second election, and because his second impeachment was acquitted through the extreme loyalty of Senate Republicans, he could run again for the White House in 2024.
