President Joe Biden expressed “great concern” about the continued migration situation at the Belarus-Poland border on Friday, The Hill reported.

Thousands of migrants, largely from Iraq and Afghanistan, have arrived at Belarus’s border with Poland. As Poland continues to refuse them passage, the refugees are now exposed to subzero conditions.

The European Union (EU) claims that Belarus is pushing migrants to enter Poland and Lithuania across its territory in reaction to Western sanctions. Belarus has also been accused by Polish officials of attempting to “create a massive disturbance” on the border.

Belarus, on the other hand, has pinned the issue on the European Union, as has Russia.

According to Agence France Presse, Vice President Harris has also raised worry over the scenario, noting during a press briefing on Friday that Belarus is “involved in extremely disturbing behavior.”

Since the beginning of the crisis, eleven persons have allegedly been found dead on both sides of the border, the most recent being a Syrian male whose cause of death is now undetermined.

On Saturday, the Polish Border Guard reported 223 attempts to unlawfully enter the border. It stated that it expects another “major attempt” to enter the border.

The police also stated that a stone was hurled at an officer stationed at the border, causing damage to his helmet.

Poland’s security services spokesperson On Sunday, Stanislaw Zaryn posted on Twitter about trucks delivering stones and rubble from Belarusian construction businesses to locations near the border.
