Former Vice President Joe Biden could absolutely make a 2020 presidential run, his brother Frank said in an interview released Wednesday.
When asked if the former VP could launch a White House campaign in 2020, his brother said that he is “absolutely” sure, adding that “why anyone would think otherwise”.
“You have to wonder how my lovely brother can put his feet on the floor every morning with the losses he’s endured,” Frank Biden said.
“If you look at it objectively, Joe is one of the few people in the United States that commands respect from the right and the left, based on the fact that you may not like what Joe says, but you can take to the bank whatever he says is true”, he added.
In a campaign email sent to supporters on Monday, Trump headquarters also responded to rumors that Biden might bid to challenge President Trump for the White House.
“American voters rejected Hillary Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s disastrous policies last November, but now Joe Biden is preparing to challenge President Trump in 2020,” the campaign wrote in an email that also requested campaign donations, AOL reports.
The Trump campaign referred to Biden as an “extreme liberal” who will “spend every waking minute over the next four years trying to tear down our President.”
“Joe Biden won’t be the only Democrat to try to stop all of Donald Trump’s progress, and with the fake news media committed now more than ever to spreading lies about the President, we need to be ready,” the campaign continued in the email.
Biden admitted after Clinton’s 2016 election loss, that he regretted not running for president after eight years as vice president.
“I had planned on running for president and although it would have been a very difficult primary, I think I could have won. I don’t know, maybe not. But I thought I could have won. But do I regret not being president? Yes. I was the best qualified”, Biden said back then.
The former vice president this week launched a political action committee, which now adds up to the rumors that he might contemplate a 2020 presidential bid.
