In a video posted on Twitter after he had tested positive for Covid-19, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott thanked the well-wishers from around the country and noted that he’s is feeling well and is without any symptoms.
Abbot, who contracted the virus despite being fully vaccinated, pointed that the Covid-19 vaccine he received might be one reason why he’s really not feeling any symptoms right now, but is nevertheless receiving Regeneron’s monoclonal antibody treatment, the same drug former President Trump was given when he tested positive for Covid-19.
The governor’s office announced earlier on Tuesday that the governor has tested positive for Covid-19 and will be isolating at the governor’s mansion since his Cecilia has tested negative for the virus. The statement also said that everyone that the governor has been in close contact with has been notified.
Abbot underscored that despite the isolation, he’ll stay engaged on everything happening in the Texas Capitol, continuing the work with the members of the legislature.
Though considered breakthrough case by the CDC, term that refers to fully vaccinated people who test positive for Covid-19, Abbott’s the latest addition in Texas’ surge in Covid-19 cases driven mainly by the highly infectious delta variant.
Yet, he stands firmly against mandating coronavirus precautions in Texas signing an executive order prohibiting mask mandates with Texans trying to violating it facing up to $1,000 in fines.
