US President Biden will host King Abdullah II of Jordan on Monday afternoon at the White House, USNews informed.
The meeting comes amid one of the most challenging periods of Jordan’s leader in his 22-year rule but also at a very crucial moment in the Middle East for President Joe Biden.
Jordan’s state security court last week convicted 2 former officials to 15 years in jail due to an alleged plot against the King, which involved the half-brother of Abdullah.
In the meantime, Joe Biden, who mainly focused on the relations with China and Russia, is faced with some challenging issues in the Middle East.
The president is faced with stepped-up attacks from militias backed by Iran on the US troops in Syria and Iraq.
The attacks arrive at a moment when the US President is trying to persuade Iran to come back to the negotiations table aimed at reinstating the nuclear agreement former President Donald Trump abandoned.
