Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker, on Thursday appointed members of the select panel that is set to probe the January 6 attack on the Capitol, including the Republican Representative Liz Cheney, CNBC informed.
The California Democrat appointed 8 members to the committee, which was established in party-line voting on Wednesday.
California Republican Kevin McCarthy, the House Minority Leader, is set to weigh in on the additional 5 representatives that will be part of the panel.
The lawmakers Pelosi selected are all Democrats except for Cheney, who was one of the 2 Republican representatives who voted to establish the panel.
Cheney was also part of the group of 10 Republicans that voted in favor of impeaching former President Trump for prompting the attack after a mob of Trump supporters forcefully entered the Capitol building while Congress was declaring President Biden’s victory.
