RON’S COMMENT: Today’s average is based on four polls, ranging from 50% (Rasmussen) to 58% (Politico). Biden’s disapproval rating averages 42% today (+1 since Monday).

MAYOR: NEW YORK CITY
Among Democratic voters citywide

Democratic primary
Andrew Yang: 22%
Eric Adams: 13%
Scott Stringer: 11%
Maya Wiley: 7%
Ray McGuire: 6%
Shaun Donovan: 6%
Diane Morales: 5%

RON’S COMMENT: Yang continues to lead the Democratic primary for mayor. Adams runs second and Stringer is third. Other candidates have been showing upward movement, but still have a way to go. It’s highly possible that one of these contenders could move up and challenge Yang for first place, considering that more than one-fourth of the electorate is undecided and there still is plenty of time before the primary…. Incumbent Mayor Bill de Blasio is term-limited…. Party primaries are June 22 and the general election is Nov. 2; ranked-choice voting will be used.

RON’S COMMENT: Moderna and Pfizer are close, both scoring solid majorities for safety. Johnson & Johnson is well below with Oxford-AstraZeneca even lower. Here are internals from the survey: 

  • PFIZER does best among White women with college degrees: 75% say safe, 15% say unsafe. Compare that to White women without college degrees: 48% say safe, 24% say unsafe. Also: 61% of Blacks and 60% of Hispanics say Pfizer is safe. Interestingly, 70% of the population cohort with the most vaccination experience (65 and older) say Pfizer is safe.
  • MODERNA alsodoes very well among White women with college degrees: 74% say safe, 17% say unsafe. Compare that to White women without college degrees: 50% say safe, 23% say unsafe. Also: 62% of Blacks and 56% of Hispanics say Moderna is safe. 74% of those 65 and older say Moderna is safe.
  • JOHNSON & JOHNSON does best among White women with college degrees: 53% say safe, 31% say unsafe. Compare that to White women without college degrees: 27% say safe, 46% say unsafe. Also: 38% of Blacks and 39% of Hispanics say Johnson & Johnson is safe. Below half (47%) of those 65 and older say Johnson & Johnson is safe.

POLICE ENCOUNTERS/AFRICAN AMERICAN DEATHS

Signs of a broader problem: 59%
 
RON’S COMMENT: Most Americans think African American deaths are signs of a broader problem, although slightly more than two out of five view these deaths as isolated incidents…. Percentages who say isolated incidents: 18% of Democrats, 68% of Republicans, 45% of independents, 45% of men, 37% of women, 19% of Blacks, 32% of Hispanics, 56% of White men without college degrees, 42% of White men with college degrees, 46% of White women without college degrees and 40% of White women with college degrees say the deaths of African Americans during encounters with police are isolated incidents.

MOVING MBL ALL-STAR GAME

RON’S COMMENT: 79% of Democrats, 15% of Republicans, 46% of independents, 44% of men, 53% of women, 63% of Blacks, 57% of Hispanics, 46% of White men without college degrees, 46% of White men with college degrees, 41% of White women without college degrees and 62% of White women with college degrees approve of the decision to move the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
