RON’S COMMENT: This is the highest job approval average we’ve ever reported for President Trump, at 48%…. Today’s average is based on six polls, ranging from 45% (Politico) to 50% (The Hill). Without these extremes, the average would still be 48%…. Trump’s disapproval rating averages 50% today (same as Tuesday), which is 2 points higher than his approval rating…. RON’S COMMENT: In the Monmouth poll, Biden is winning Democrats 89-6 and women 53-40. He’s also winning white women with college degrees 63-33…. Trump is winning Republicans 90-7, independents 45-44, men 50-42 and whites without college degrees 62-32…. From the Monmouth poll report:
- Thirty percent say they are more enthusiastic about voting this year compared to past elections, 17% are less enthusiastic, and 52% feel the same level of enthusiasm. This is a slight shift from February, when 39% felt more enthusiastic, 21% less enthusiastic, and 40% the same. The dip in feeling more enthusiastic has come mainly from Republicans (36%, down from 47%) and independents (21%, down from 34%). On the other hand, fewer Democrats feel less enthusiastic about November’s election now (18%) than said the same last month (30%).

RON’S COMMENT: These numbers vary by poll, but the average shows Trump’s approval rating for his handling of the coronavirus to be well above 50%.

RON’S COMMENT: Most Americans expect the current situation to go on for “several months”…. Interestingly, 14% of Democrats, 33% of Republicans and 23% of independents say it will go on for only “a month or so.”

How well prepared is the U.S. to deal with an epidemic like the coronavirus?
Very/Somewhat prepared: 41%
Not very/Not at all prepared: 59%
RON’S COMMENT: Big partisan difference––69% of Republicans vs. 25% of Democrats say the country is “very/somewhat prepared.”
