As the presidential race comes closer and closer, people from political parties and ordinary civilians share their views on the candidates and President Trump gets the most attention both positive and negative.
One of the people to share his views on Trump is the former GOP county chairman and Ohio Farmer Chris Gibbs (former chairman of the Shelby County Republican Party) as he spoke with CNBC on the subject on Monday, saying that he feels dubious about Trump’s administration statement for agricultural buys from China, for around $40 billion to $50 billion during the Trade war between the two countries. He also said that he would not vote for Trump even if he manages somehow to walk on water.
“He could come up with this $50 billion, he could walk across my pond and not get wet, and I’m still not going to vote for him because, you know, at the end of the day my name is Chris Gibbs, it’s not Judas, and I’m not going to sell my political moorings for 30 pieces of silver,’’ said Gibbs.
According to The Hill, the soybean and corn farmer voted for Trump in 2016 but said he’s out when it comes to supporting Trump this time around.
Last Friday, Trump said that the United States and China have agreed on a phase one deal in which China will purchase billions of dollars in agricultural products.
‘’I don’t believe it until the crops are on the boat. This is deja vu all over again. He’s done that before. Somebody has to speak truth to power a little bit. And I hate to be a downer on this all the time, but somebody has to be practical,’’ said Gibbs.
