RON’S COMMENT: Today’s average is based on five polls, ranging from 39% (Pew) to 45% (The Economist). Without these two extremes, it would still be 42%…. President Trump’s disapproval rating averages 55% today, which is 13 points higher than his approval rating.

RON’S COMMENT: While 69% of Republicans and 5% of Democrats say they’re definitely voting for President Trump, 25% of independents say so…. According to this poll, a surprisingly sizable 21% of Republicans say they’re unsure…. At roughly the same point before the 2012 election, 37% of voters said they’d definitely vote to re-elect President Obama and 44% said they’d definitely vote against him.

RON’S COMMENT: Biden wins this early popularity contest among Democratic voters. His favorability is slightly higher among Democratic men than women (77% vs. 75%). He does better among white college grads than white non-grads (83% vs. 71%). Biden does best in suburban areas (84%), and better in big cities (83%) than in rural areas (65%). The former VP’s age doesn’t appear to be hurting him among younger voters: He does slightly better among those under 45 than those 45 or older (76% vs. 75%)…. Of the new faces, Harris, Booker and O’Rourke continue to be well positioned to grow.… Bloomberg does better among white Democrats than black Democrats (34% vs. 15%) and best among voters over 72 years old (37%)…. O’Rourke does better among Democratic men than women (46% vs. 32%). He also does much better among white college grads than white non-grads (55% vs. 25%)…. Sanders does better among men than women (62% vs. 54%)…. Among black Democrats, two-thirds don’t know enough about Booker to rate him. For Harris, It’s 61%. Also, Harris does better with whites than blacks: whites are 39% favorable/7% unfavorable and blacks are 26% favorable/13% unfavorable toward her…. Warren does better with voters 45 and older than among those under 45 (57% vs. 48%).

TRIVIA ANSWER
Andrew Johnson. He served as president 1865-69. He was elected to the Senate in January of 1875, after a hotly contested battle in the Tennessee legislature that took 56 ballots to resolve. He died in July of that same year.
