Republicans Join President in Mocking Elizabeth Warren

President Donald Trump’s attacks on Senator Elizabeth Warren over her Native American ancestry seem to have been reinforced by two other senators and close allies of the President.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who spoke on “Fox and Friends” Tuesday morning, said that he could easily “beat” Warren if he took a DNA test himself, jokingly adding that it would be “terrible” if the results showed he was Iranian.

“I’ve been told that my grandmother was part Cherokee Indian,” he said. “It may all be just talk, but you’re going to find out in a couple of weeks because I’m going to take this test. … I’m taking it, and the results are going to be revealed here. This is my Trump moment. This is reality TV.”

Graham later added, “She’s less than one-tenth of 1 percent. I think I can beat her. I think I can beat her.”

GOP Senator Orrin Hatch likewise made fun of Warren’s claim and DNA test results, posting a graphic of himself on Twitter, saying his DNA results proved he was 1/1032 dinosaur.

On Tuesday night, President Trump again took to Twitter to blast Warren’s claim of Indian heritage, saying she “is being hammered, even by the Left,” and added her “false claim of Indian heritage is only selling to VERY LOW I.Q. individuals!”

He has long criticized her for saying she had a Native American heritage, mockingly calling her “Pocahontas.” Trump even suggested he would donate $1 million to a charity of her choice if she could prove her ancestry. In an effort to push back on the attacks, on Monday the senator released the results of her DNA analysis that said she has distant Native American ancestry.

She also urged the President to make good on his promise and donate to the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center. Trump, however, denied ever making such a comment and continued calling Warren “Pocahontas.” He then said he would donate the $1 million only if he could administer the test himself.

“I’ll only do it if I can test her personally,” he said. “This is not something I would enjoy doing either.”
