Protesters slammed Democratic Senator Joe Manchin just minutes after he said he will vote ‘yes’ for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Protesters encircled the Senate Office Building in recent days during the Kavanaugh scandal, shouting “Shame, shame, shame!”, “Look at us!”, and “Shame on you.”
Senator Manchin said he will be giving his vote for Kavanaugh, who was nominated by President Donald Trump, shortly after Senator Susan Collins announced her ‘yes’ vote for the Supreme Court nominee.
With the vote of Collins, Republicans gathered the 50 votes necessary along with the vote of VP Mike Pence, which is tiebreaking, to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to Supreme Court.
Manchin’s timing for the announcement was under fire since it came minutes after Collins, when it was already clear his vote would not make any difference.
