White House Slams ‘Ridiculous’ NYT Report on Kavanaugh’s College Incident

The White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders slammed The New York Times report on a 1985 bar fight in which the current Trump pick for the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh was part of, Fox News informed.

The report said that Kavanaugh and four other people were part of a questioning process after the incident. One of the men claimed that Kavanaugh was not provoked when he allegedly threw ice at him.

Sanders sent a tweet that Democrats are so desperate to shame Kavanaugh and used a July tweet from one of the article’s co-authors in an apparent attempt to show biased reporting.

“As a @YaleLawSch grad & lecturer, I strongly disassociate myself from tonight’s praise of Brett Kavanaugh,” Emily Bazelon, a Times reporter, tweeted at the time. “With respect, he’s a 5th vote for a hard-right turn on voting rights and so much more that will harm the democratic process & prevent a more equal society.”

Fox News tried to contact the paper in an email early Tuesday and did not receive a comment. Sanders did not challenge any allegations in the article.

The incident took place after a UB40 concert at Demery’s, a former classmate Chad Ludington said. The group of men allegedly saw someone who looked similarly to lead singer of the band, and when they asked them to stop looking at him, Ludington said that Kavanaugh launched a beer at the man. Ludington said that he earlier mixed up a beer for a drink with ice, but said that the man “took a swing at Brett” and they fought.

According to Ludington, a friend of Kavanaugh’s at Yale, who then went to play professional basketball, took his drink and “smashed it up against the guy’s head.”

That resulted in the victim bleeding from the one ear and he was later treated at a nearby hospital.

Kavanaugh’s friend rejected any involvement in this incident at the time.

Ludington also mentioned that he was friends with Kavanaugh and that he was a frequent and heavy drinker.
