Trump Demands Judge Chutkan to Be Removed From His Case

Former US president Donald Trump has called for the removal of District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan from the case in his most recent federal indictment after she issued a ruling against him.

Trump launched his attack on Judge Chutkan on Sunday morning, days after he pleaded not guilty before her to four federal charges stemming from a DOJ investigation into his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election and the subsequent Capitol attack on January 6.

Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team requested on Friday for Judge Chutkan to issue a protective order that would limit the case-related information Trump and his legal team can share publicly quoting Trump’s post on Truth Social seemingly threatening revenge on those pursuing him.

Trump’s team asked for a three-day extension to respond to Smith’s request, but Judge Chutkan denied their request, giving Trump’s team until 5 pm Monday to pitch amendments to Smith’s proposed order.

Her decision prompter Trump to issue another post on Truth Social, attacking her and stressing that ‘There is no way I can get a fair trial with the judge “assigned” to the ridiculous freedom of speech/fair elections case.’
