Anti-ESG Crusader, “Woke, Inc.” Author Ramaswamy Launches Presidential Bid

Venture capitalist Vivek Ramaswamy announced that he would run for President of the United States.

Ramaswamy launched a firm last year to pressure companies to abandon environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) initiatives, and is the author of the book “Woke Inc..”

Ramaswamy’s long-shot candidacy tries to fill the role that idea-driven outsiders have played in presidential politics.

In the past, this role has been filled by people such as Steve Forbes, who in 1996 ran for the GOP on a flat tax campaign, and Andrew Yang, who ran in 2020 for the Dems on a universal basic income push.

Ramaswamy said he will be focusing on addressing what he views as America’s biggest challenge — a national identity crisis that has left America adrift.

Ramaswamy will step down as executive chairman of Strive Asset Management, which raised more than $650 million from investors in less than six months, to pursue his bid for the presidency in 2024.

“America today is so hungry for meaning and identity at a moment in our history when the things that used to fill that void of purpose — be it faith, patriotism, hard work, family, you name it — those things have disappeared,” Ramaswamy said.

“What the conservative movement needs to do is more than just criticize the poison that fills the void but fill the vacuum with a vision of American national identity that runs so deep that it dilutes these other religions, from wokism to Islamism,” he said.

He will be a long-shot candidate in a Republican presidential field that has congregated around fighting the Left on cultural battles.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott are among those considering mounting a bid for the White House.

Currently on the battlefield for the GOP nomination are former President Donald Trump and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley.

A political outsider, Ramaswamy rose to prominence in 2021 as the author of “Woke Inc: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam”.
