Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis petitioned Tuesday the state’s Supreme Court to convene a statewide grand jury to investigate any and all wrongdoing in Florida linked to COVID-19 vaccines, including spreading claims about the efficacy of the doses that were false and misleading.
The petition alleges that the pharma industry has a notorious reputation for misleading the public for financial gain, noting that the grand jury will probe every aspect of Covid vaccines, including its development, promotion, and distribution purported to prevent the infection, symptoms, and transmission of COVID-19.
DeSantis pointed out he anticipates that they’ll get the approval for the process that will enable them to bring legal accountability for those who allegedly committed misconduct, stressing that in Florida, it is against the law to mislead and to misrepresent, particularly with regard to the efficacy of a drug.
Although the safety and the effectiveness of the Covid vaccine in preventing the virus and protecting against serious symptoms have been emphasized by most of the medical community, including the CDC and the FDA, the Florida governor sought to undermine the jabs’ efficacy, claiming at the same time that vaccine manufacturers have actually made a fortune on Covid-19 mandates.
DeSantis made the announcement in a live-streamed round table discussion with Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo he was chairing, during which some participants described vaccine-induced negative health experiences after getting the shots.
Back in October, he opposed mandatory COVID-19 vaccine shots for children, stressing that it is a decision that must be made by the parents and vowing not to allow COVID shot mandates for kids.
He previously distanced Florida from the mask mandates, lockdowns, and other prevention measures during the coronavirus pandemic that has affected the lives of millions of Americans.
Pfizer has responded to DeSantis’s allegations, pointing out that mRNA vaccines have saved hundreds of thousands of lives and tens of billions of dollars in health care costs over the course of this deadly pandemic, stressing that its use has been authorized by regulatory agencies across the world based on a robust and independent evaluation of the scientific data on quality, safety, and efficacy.
