According to two sources familiar with the investigation, the former president Trump’s attorney attested in a letter dated in June that there was no remaining sensitive material at Mar-a-Lago, Fox News informed.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents carried out a search order on the former president Donald Trump’s Florida resort on Monday and seized things, including 11 sets of material that is classified.

The records seized by federal officials were “all declassified,” according to Trump, who made the statement after the warrant was made public on Friday.

The former president briefly attended a high-level meeting with representatives from the Justice Department and the FBI that Trump’s lawyers previously held in June, but it’s unknown if the letter was signed there.

If the former president’s attorneys intentionally provided misleading information to law authorities, they might be subject to severe legal repercussions.

During their operation, FBI agents took records listed as top secret and some that were tagged as classified.

After the warrant was made public on Friday, Trump disputed whether the records the FBI acquired were secret in a post on Truth Social.

The National Archives and Records Administration stated in a press release that the former president Obama does not have control over presidential records from his administration in response to Trump’s social media remark.

According to the warrant, all rooms used by Trump and his staff on Monday, including “45 Office,” all storage spaces, and all other rooms, were searched.
