One week after first testing positive with a “rebound” case of COVID-19, President Joe Biden’s coronavirus test came back negative on Saturday, The Hill reports.

Biden “continues to feel very well,” according to a letter from Kevin O’Connor, the White House doctor, but he won’t be allowed to leave isolation until he shows negative results on the second test.

On July 21, when Biden initially tested positive for COVID-19, he was experiencing certain symptoms, such as a cough, bodily pains, and a brief rise in fever. The president tested negative five days after his initial positive test after taking the antiviral medication Paxlovid.

The president tested positive once more last Saturday with what is known as a “rebound” case, a complication that has been noticed in some Paxlovid users, just a few days after he was released from quarantine. The president did not have any symptoms beyond a minor cough, according to O’Connor’s daily briefings, despite Biden’s isolation at the White House over the last week.

In the event of a second negative test, Biden will accompany the first lady on Monday to Kentucky to view flood devastation in the eastern portion of the state.
