Ukraine reported multiple missile strikes in Mykolaiv and in the southern port city of Odesa on Tuesday during which Russian troops have destroyed civilian infrastructure as well as arms depots, info also confirmed by Russia’s defense ministry.
The Russian missile attack also targeted Odesa Region where detached houses in coastal settlements were hit, causing fires, but there were no casualties among civilians.
The target of the Russian attacks in the Mykolaiv region, which was also hit by S-300 missile systems deployed in the Russia-controlled Kherson region, was the “port infrastructure” as well as eight missile and artillery arms depots, but they’ve also damaged a local car market and other open areas.
The information about potential casualties and the scale of destruction is yet to be checked though Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had published a video of destroyed houses in the popular resort village Zatoka, to the west of Odesa, emphasizing that there are no military bases or troops in the area.
According to the Ukrainian South Operational Command’s reports quoted by Ukrinform, Russian troops launched a massive missile attack with several air-based missiles on southern Ukraine from the Black Sea Tuesday morning.
The report claims that the situation on the southern front is remaining challenging but is controlled by the Ukrainian defense forces.
The Russian air attacks have also intensified in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region, as Ukrainian officials noted, with missiles targeting the cities of Bakhmut, Kramatorsk, Chasiv Yar, Sloviansk, and Kostyantynivka as well as the surrounding villages. The town of Chuhuiv, southeast of Kharkiv, was hit by at least 10 rockets fired by Russian troops.
A huge fire, tens of meters high, broke out at an oil depot after Ukrainian troops shelled the territory of the Budyonnovsk district in the Donetsk People’s Republic in eastern Ukraine, but no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
Previously, the South Operational Command bragged that its forces have destroyed a command center of Russia’s 11th Guards Air Assault Brigade and an ammunition depot near Piatykhatky.
