Henry Cuellar Comments on AOC Abortion Remarks, Biden’s Border Protection

Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Democrat from Texas and the only pro-life Democrat in the House, is speaking out in response to recent comments made by a progressive colleague and the administration of President Joe Biden’s lack of action to protect the southern border, Fox News informed.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., arguably one of the most progressive members of the House, said in an Instagram video over the weekend that the Democratic Party should “reevaluate if it’s suitable” for pro-life Democrats to continue in their positions following the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse federal protections for abortion provided by Roe v. Wade.

In an interview with Fox News Digital on Thursday, Cuellar discussed the ongoing immigration problem, difficulties at the border, his support for life, and his response to recent comments made by Ocasio-Cortez.

Democratic pro-life, Cuellar declared that he is aware that his choice, regrettably, causes a lot of people to disagree and that he is aware that that is a highly sensitive subject.

Ocasio-Cortez supported Jessica Cisneros in her primary run against him for Texas’s 28th Congressional District. Cuellar, a frequent voice of reason among members of his own party, called her comments “laughable” and pointed to the model of a progressive.

Who is she to determine what is a true Democrat, he asked?

She represents her district, and he represents his, and that’s how it should be, Cuellar said

Cuellar spoke about why, in light of the current crisis at the southern border, he thinks the Democratic Party has failed to pass significant immigration reform just days after a semitrailer holding scores of dead migrants was discovered abandoned in San Antonio.

Cuellar described his own metric and another one employed by some Biden administration officials, claiming that while processing people entering the country illegally, many administration officials are simply interested in “how quickly can you get them from the border into the interior.”
