Former President Trump lambasted the House Select Committee on January 6 and its primetime session Thursday night as “very politicized,” while undermining his daughter’s evidence, stating she “accepted” then-Attorney General Bill Barr’s determination that the 2020 presidential election was not rigged, Fox News informed.
Trump slammed the committee hearing Thursday night a “one-sided, completely politicized, POLITICAL WITCH HUNT!” on his TRUTH Social platform.
On Thursday night, members of the Jan. 6 committee said Trump “spurred a crowd of domestic adversaries” to attack the Capitol in an attempt to “subvert American democracy” and sway the 2020 presidential race.
Lawmakers on the committee also showed footage of interviews and depositions with former top Trump officials, including one from Attorney General Bill Barr as well as one with Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, in front of the select committee.
Between Election Day 2020 and his early retirement from the Trump administration in December 2020, Barr stated he had three conversations with Trump.
Ivanka Trump gave video testimony on Barr’s assertion that the Justice Department found “no fraud sufficient to invalidate the election,” according to Vice Chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo.
Ivanka Trump was questioned how Barr’s statement changed her view of the election throughout the video.
On TRUTH Social Friday morning, Trump took aim at his daughter, saying she “was not engaged in looking at, or reviewing Election results.”
Trump also called Barr a “coward” and a “weak and frightened AG who was constantly ‘played’ and threatened by Democrats and was terrified of getting impeached.”
Trump reacted after Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, a Democrat from Mississippi, declared in his opening remarks that Trump “was at the heart of this scheme.”
The Select Committee showed a never-before-seen video of the terrible events that occurred during the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Thompson warned that the tape “very difficult to watch” before playing it.
