Nine Dead, 29 Wounded in Three More Mass Shootings Across U.S.

There were shootings in three cities across the United States that killed nine and wounding more than two dozen. It marks the latest tragic outbreak of gun violence in the wake of three other mass shootings that rattled the country.

In Philadelphia, there was a confrontation between two men that escalated into a gunfight. It sprayed bullets into a crowded bar and restaurant, killing three and wounding 12. There was mass panic as people tried to flee. In Chattanooga, Tennessee, a shooting broke out after midnight near a bar, killing three and wounding 14.

And in Saginaw, Michigan, there was another shooting over the weekend. Unlike the other two mass shootings, which affected bystanders unconnected to the shooting, this one involved only people in the incident. Five people were shot, killing three and wounding two.

In the three shootings, it brings the death toll to nine, and those wounded to 29.

It comes as the country continues to grieve from three other massacres in three other cities. In Buffalo, New York, a massacre killed 10 people in a grocery store. In Uvalde, Texas, 21 were killed at an elementary school shooting, including 19 children. And four people were killed at a medical building in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

That is only the tip of the iceberg for gun violence in America.

There have been at least 240 mass shootings in the country so far this year alone. People across the nation are calling for gun reform to finally take place in order to take stronger measures to curb gun violence.

Democrats in Congress are pushing for reform, as is President Joe Biden.  Chris Murphy, the lead Democratic U.S. senator working on bipartisan gun safety talks, believes a package including investments in mental health and school safety and some changes to gun laws can pass Congress.

But Republicans are split on the matter. Many still are propped up by the powerful NRA lobby and continue to say that guns are not the problem.

Only America is this a major issue among wealthy nations. Other nations immediately banned certain, or all, weapons after mass shootings.
