The White House has launched the third round of free COVID-19 at-home testing kits for Americans, Fox News informed.
According to a White House release, all residential households in the US are eligible for a third round of the free tests.
The US Postal Service distributes and delivers the testing kits to everyone that is eligible.
The US Government announced on the initiative’s site that every home in the United States can now order a 3rd round of the testing kits, suggesting that people should order right away.
The testing kits are over-the-counter antigen tests and are now available for order.
The kits are effective regardless of whether the patient has symptoms or is asymptomatic and provide results in half an hour at home.
The demand for free tests has fluctuated in the past.
Over 45 million testing kits were ordered in the first wave of distribution.
The White House has issued fewer than half of its available stock since the initial round.
Officials reported in March that fewer than 100,000 kits were ordered on a daily basis.
Michael Osterholm, a former member of President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 advisory board, debunked White House assertions earlier this month that the United States might witness up to 100 million Covid-19 cases this fall and winter.
Osterholm characterized the White House’s estimation as “a whiplash moment” in an interview with CNN last week, citing how it came into conflict with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is now only advising that masks be worn on public transportation rather than asserting that they should be obligatory.
Osterholm expressed his support for the efforts of the Biden administration to secure additional funds for fighting Covid-19.
However, he said that any estimations that go beyond 30 days can be considered as based on “pixie dust”, and that the White House is going too far out.
