Five States Holding Midterm Elections

Voters are lining up today in five states to cast their ballots in the midterm elections.

One of the main things to watch in the primary elections is former president Donald Trump and several bold endorsements. Whether Trump’s streak in the U.S. Senate’s primaries is a winning one is massively on the line today.

One of the endorsements Trump gave out was to celebrity heart surgeon Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania and Rep. Ted Budd in North Carolina.

Oz is locked in a tight battle for the primary for the Republican nomination. He stands against a former hedge fund CEO and community activist, David McCormick. Oz is best known for hosting a daytime TV show called The Dr. Oz Show.

Budd was once little-known but is now in a strong position to win the Republican nomination for his state.

Pennsylvania, Oregon, and Idaho will hold primaries for their governors today.

Idaho’s Republican governor Brad Little is fighting a challenger from his own lieutenant governor, who is a Trump-supported conservative with white nationalist ties. Janice McGeachin stands against Little, who is most famous for issuing executive orders that banned mask mandates during the extreme height of the pandemic when Little was out of the state on business.

Pennsylvania has a race for a retiring senator’s seat, which has been dominated by a huge primary field that has been particularly contested on the Republican side. However, the focus turned to the Democrats over the weekend when Fetterman announced he was recovering from a stroke. He had been leading in the polls and fundraising in a four-person competition.

In North Carolina, young GOP Representative Madison Cawthorn is trying to survive his Republican primary election against several candidates, after a turbulent first term in office that may be his last.
