House Republicans are urging the Biden administration to move quickly to alleviate the nationwide shortage of baby formula, Fox News informed.
Elise Stefanik, the House GOP conference chairwoman, and mother of a nine-month-old son was joined by many of her colleagues outside the Capitol on Thursday to criticize President Biden and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for their refusal to ensure that mothers across the US have access to the formula their young children require.
Stefanik said that she followed up on this issue since February and that as part of the House Republicans, they will proceed with seeking answers from the FDA.
She also said that they tried to reach the FDA from her office but the answer they received was unsubstantial.
Stefanik argued that Biden has no plan, and when the White House was asked about this issue they only laughed.
She continued that House GOP constantly pushes for FDA and the Biden administration to take action although they should have a strategy planned for this matter months ago, adding that this should have never happened in the USA because they were not a Third World country.
Republican Representative Ann Wagner from Missouri, echoed the remarks of Stefanik, saying that this is Joe Biden’s America.
Wagner said that people are already struggling to buy food for their families as the costs are constantly rising, and now have to face a crisis that threatens the lives of their babies, adding that the baby formula shortage is affecting all the mothers in the country, especially in Missouri, her home state.
She also said that Missouri is one of the six states in the US hit by this baby formula shortage and that her constituents are really affected by this shortage.
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Washington, was also in attendance for the news conference, and said she is hearing from mothers, support organizations, and nurses in the Washington state that “this is the largest crisis they have ever encountered.”
