In the wake of protests and left-wing outrage following the leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion suggesting the overturn of Roe v. Wade, Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley called abortion “religion for the far left” that’s foisting it upon everyone who conversely believes in the sanctity of life.
Talking on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Hawley, former clerk for Chief Justice John Roberts Jr., stressed that the left is willing to defend their “religion” to the hilt and is willing to force it on everybody else, even to burn down the court as an institution.
He accused the contemporary liberals of disrespecting institutional principles and only supporting government institutions when they do exactly what activists want them to do.
Hawley stressed that Americans need to get back to trusting the people and actually enforcing the Constitution which says that those nine justices wearing robes are the ones that should be the ones making all the decisions since, as he noted, people are too stupid to make these decisions themselves.
If the February draft opinion in the pending case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization is adopted as a final ruling, it would not outlaw the practice, as some observers claimed, but return the power to legislate abortion law to the 50 state governments.
Some legal experts, on the other hand, warn that this would give the Supreme Court’s conservative majority a path to overturn other landmark cases.
Meanwhile, far-left Washington Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal called for activists to take to the streets in reaction to the leaked document, which, according to Carlson, is a call to intimidate the Supreme Court into doing what she wants by committing violence.
