From the Rose Garden on Friday, the White House praised Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, saying that she will be an inspiration for many new generations of leaders, Fox News informed.
US President Joe Biden also praised GOP Senators who cast aside the partisanship and voted in favor of the supreme court nominee.
The family of Ketanji Brown Jackson, the President, and the first lady, as well as the vice president and the second gentleman, were part of the ceremony on Friday.
The ceremony was also attended by Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, and many more.
Senators John Hickenlooper, Ed Markey, Patrick Leahy, Sheldon Whitehouse, Jon Ossoff, Chris Van Hollen, Mazie Hirono and Chris Coons were among those in attendance, as were Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin, as well as other Democratic senators. More than a dozen Democratic members of the House of Representatives were also present.
Biden stated that this is a moment of profound change in US history.
Before Biden began his speech, Vice President Kamala Harris noted that the confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the US highest court will be an inspiration for many leaders in the years to come.
After President Joe Biden addressed the ceremony, Jackson stated that this moment is the greatest honor of her life and saluted all the people that helped her commence the incredible journey.
She also thanked the President for believing in her capabilities and giving her a chance to serve the United States.
Jackson then greeted Vice President Harris praising her for the guidance and wise counsel.
The US Senate held a vote to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the highest court of the US on Thursday, fulfilling Biden’s pledge for appointing the first Black woman to this court.
