After heading a bipartisan delegation to Europe in support of Ukraine, Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “weak man,” Fox News informed.

During a press conference in Poland, Ernst and nine of her colleagues on both sides of the aisle said Putin must be held accountable for his deadly invasion of Ukraine more than three weeks ago.

The senator asked President Biden to implement “peace through strength” and urged other NATO countries to be more steadfast in their support for Kyiv.

The United States, Canada, and other European countries have supplied military assistance to Ukraine, although the United States has refused to deliver MiG-29 warplanes, expressing worries that it would expand Russian aggression beyond Ukraine’s borders.

As Russian forces proceed to pound civilian and military targets, Ernst, a war veteran, urged Biden to consider Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s demands for additional air protection.

Russian forces have fired over 1,080 missiles on Ukrainians, prompting Zelenskyy to make an urgent request to the US to impose a no-fly zone or provide aircraft, S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, or other “similar structures” to help Ukraine deal with the assault.

Ernst, wrote a letter to President Joe Biden earlier this month alongside 40 other Republican senators, to encourage him to provide Kyiv with aircraft and defense systems. However, she declined to say whether every senator who flew to Poland stands in favor of the request for sending the help to Ukraine.

Senators Angus King, an Independent from Maine, and Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat from New York, could not be reached for comment on whether they endorsed Ernst’s calls, Fox News Digital informed.

“According to Democratic Senator Jacky Rosen from Nevada, the United States must provide help to Ukraine in order to increase its capacity to safeguard its airspace by supplying them with systems for air defense and drones, and working with the NATO allies to deliver them the fighter jet.
