Rasmussen Does Not Rule Out NATO Sending Fighter Jets Against Russia

NATO’s former Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has claimed in an interview for the Danish TV2 that there is a real possibility the alliance will end up in a war against Russia.

Fully aware that will undeniably mean war between NATO and Russia for the future of democracy Rasmussen said that sending NATO fighter jets to protect Ukrainian airspace means being ready to shoot down Russian planes, stressing, however, that Europeans must be ready for this.

Per Rasmussen, if it is to be a deterrent to Putin, then NATO shouldn’t rule out anything, underscoring he’s among the people who believe that Putin must be kept in maximum insecurity.

He also pointed out that energy from Russia must be boycotted completely and as soon as possible to cut Moscow from oil and gas revenues as soon as possible and believes the West can do without it in a year.

As a reminder, it was Rasmussen that led NATO when it invaded oil-rich Libya, leaving the country afterward plunged in chaos, with little to no government control and with warring factions fighting it out.

Neither the US nor any European m has so far embers of NATO voiced any desire to escalate the conflict with Russia by sending their own troops or aircraft to Ukraine. On the contrary, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz outright refused to send fighter jets to assist Ukraine.

Yet, that didn’t stop Rasmussen to avoid ruling out NATO going to war, explaining that the alliance would be sending its planes to protect Ukrainian airspace.

NATO has so far supported Ukraine and its defense with financial allotments and loads of arms, including anti-tank weapons and firearms, while the West has imposed a broad spectrum of sanctions against Russia, ranging from consumer goods to banking operations.
