US Wary of Possible Russian Attack on Its Troops in Syria

Washington is worried about a potential Russian strike on their troops in Syria with advanced electronic warfare systems (EW), AP reported.

According to Michael Kurilla, Chief of Staff of the US Central Command, Russia intends to use electronic warfare equipment against the US military in Syria.

The US general said that the consequences of these actions could undermine the security of US military units.

Kurilla noted that any move in Ukraine could provoke action in Syria, where Moscow supports President Bashar al-Assad and impedes the development of democracy.

“We already consider Russian EW capabilities as one of the most problematic environments we have ever encountered,” Kurilla said.

However, as AP writes, Kurilla added that Washington does not believe that Moscow would want to start a war against the US.
