Biden Discusses Houthi Attacks, Iran, with Saudi King Salman

The United States is committed to supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the defense of its people and territory from the brazen, Iranian-enabled attacks by the Houthis, US President Joe Biden has stressed on Wednesday during the phone conversation with King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia.

According to the White House press statement, the two leaders discussed regional developments and issues of mutual concern, including energy supplies in the face of soaring fuel prices and developments in the Middle East, Iran and the support for UN-led efforts to end the war in Yemen.

‎‏Highlighting the role of the historic OPEC+ agreement in this regard, King Salman stressed the importance of maintaining balance and stability in the oil markets and the importance of maintaining the agreement regarding energy and oil markets.

Both leaders reiterated their respective countries’ commitment to ensuring the stability of global energy supplies, to ensuring that Iran can never obtain a nuclear weapon, and have agreed that their teams would remain closely coordinated over the coming weeks and months.

President Biden also briefed King Salman on ongoing multilateral talks to revive Iran’s nuclear deal and reaffirmed the historic and strategic partnership between the two countries.

The two leaders have also agreed on the need to solidify and strengthen cooperation to promote both countries’ interests and achieve stability in the Middle East region and the world.
