Iranian Foreign Ministry Says JCPOA Talks Will Continue

The meeting of the Joint Commission on the Iranian Nuclear Deal (JCPOA) will take place on Friday in the Austrian capital Vienna, during which the parties to the format will resume negotiations after the break.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri said that the parties agreed to continue the talks.

“After we consulted with other delegations yesterday, I met with EU Representative Enrique Mora to assess the current situation and discuss the next steps. We have made significant progress this week. We will convene the Joint Commission today and continue negotiations after a break of several days,” the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister wrote on Twitter.

The previous meeting of the joint commission on the JCPOA at the level of political directors took place in Vienna on December 9. It was the second official meeting of the commission, during framework of the seventh round of talks between the parties.

At the end of November, the seventh round of negotiations started in Vienna about renewing the deal on the Iranian nuclear program.

The main topic of the talks was the issue of lifting US sanctions from Tehran. In 2015, the UK, Germany, China, Russia, the United States, France, and Iran signed the JCPOA.
