The Kremlin stated on Sunday that U.S. President Joe Biden and Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agreed to undertake additional talks in the future during an eagerly awaited conversation the week before amid increasing tensions over Ukraine.

The Kremlin, on the other hand, said it was too early to make assumptions on when the two leaders would meet in person, according to Reuters, citing Russian media.

Tensions between the two nations have risen since Biden and Putin met in person at a conference in Geneva in June. According to US intelligence, Russia is contemplating a military strike against Ukraine that may begin as early as next year. According to reports, the proposal comprises 175,000 troops stationed along the border.

Biden again reaffirmed his solidarity for Ukraine’s political sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling for a regional de-escalation and a restoration of negotiations.

According to reports, the two presidents also addressed strategic stability, ransomware, and collaborative efforts on regional concerns, especially Iran.

According to Reuters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a video carried on state TV that Putin had no reason to be hopeful following his meeting with Biden since the two nations still differ on Moscow’s “red lines” that it does not want the West to cross.

Moscow has stated that it does not want particular offensive weaponry deployed in neighboring countries, especially Ukraine, and that it does not want NATO to expand eastward, according to the media outlet.

Throughout their phone conversation last week, Putin informed Biden that the troops on the border are on Russian soil and pose no threat to anybody.
