Donald Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, blasted the former president of perpetrating the “biggest grift in U.S. history” by pushing the Big Lie, while also predicting that Trump will not run for president again, Newsweek reports.
The former president has previously intimated that he was considering a candidacy. When questioned about another presidential run in 2024, he remarked in a Fox News interview earlier in November that he believes “a lot of people are going to be very delighted.”
However, during an appearance with NBC News’ Meet the Press on Sunday morning, Cohen threw doubt on these intentions. Cohen, on the other hand, feels Trump is utilizing the talk of a presidential run to gather funds.
Cohen accused Trump of “scamming the American public, these supporters, these folks who are simply donating money to him at historic numbers.”
He also stated that Trump’s swindling “off of the Big Lie” may hamper a possible candidacy.
Following his defeat in the 2020 election, Donald Trump and his backers alleged, without providing any proof, that massive fraud aided President Joe Biden’s victory.
Cohen, though, stated that if Trump runs and loses again, it will be more challenging for him to allege fraud.
Cohen said that Trump will continue to fuel rumors that he might run “until the very, very last second.” However, Cohen feels that “it’s not going to happen.”
Michael Cohen is not the only ex-Trump ally who has denied that Trump intends to run for President again. Former National Security Advisor John Bolton told iTV on November 10 that Trump will not campaign again because he is afraid he will lose.
