The largest US military convoy in recent years arrived from Jordan at the At-Tanf base in Syria on November 5, SANA reported. The convoy included 26 trucks with weapons, ammunition, and logistics.
In addition to the base, there are rebel groups loyal to the US in the At-Tanf area, SANA notes. “This is the largest convoy of those that have entered Syrian territory from Jordan over the past few years,” the agency said in a statement.
Earlier, the analytical center Stratfor said that the US could fold the base in At-Tanf after the last strike inflicted on the garrison by unknown forces. The blow was struck on October 20. The attacker, allegedly linked to Iran, used drones and rocket launchers.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), no US military was injured. Several facilities in the garrison were damaged.
After the attack in the US, there was increased talk of scrapping the mission in Syria, with the National Interest and Newsweek repoting on the issue as well.
