Kamala Harris to Visit Indo-Pacific Region amid Tensions with China

Kamala Harris, Vice President of the US is set to visit Singapore and Vietnam next month to strengthen the relationship and the economic ties with these Indo-Pacific countries, according to a White House statement, CNBC informed.

Kamala Harris will be the first United States Vice President to make a trip to Vietnam, and the official with the highest ranking from the Biden administration to visit this region, but also Asia.

The Indo-Pacific region covers the territory that spreads between the Indian and the Pacific Oceans, which borders India, Australia, and Japan.

The trip comes in the wake of the administration’s attempts to strengthen the relations with countries from Southeast Asia while aiming to push back on the influence China has in these regions as well as in the whole world.
