Cuban Situation Prompts Congress Republicans to Request Meeting with Biden

The escalated situation in Cuba following protests against the government in recent weeks has prompted 19 GOP lawmakers to request a meeting with President Biden to discuss a plan for the Congress and the administration to bring an end to the oppressive regime in Havana and liberate the Cuban people,” The Hill learns from the letter they addressed to Biden.

The letter points the United States as a bastion of freedom and democracy and an example for those seeking to release themselves from the shackles of communist oppression.

“Now is the time to act,” they wrote in the letter.

Before formally requesting a meeting with Biden, they said they expressed their concern indecision, bureaucracy and the inability to lead will squander the moment.

Meanwhile, the calls for freedom in Cuba grow on US turf too with marches in Washington DC and demonstrations in Tampa that are entering its third week.
