Manchin Confident Biden Infrastructure Proposal Will Get Congress Votes

Senator Joe Manchin believes President Joe Biden’s $1.2 trillion infrastructure proposal is going to get “absolutely” enough votes in Congress, Newsweek reports.

As the discussions progressed, support for the infrastructure package fluctuated. Following the president’s erroneous implication that he would veto a bill unless a larger reconciliation package came along soon after it, some Republican senators participating in the bipartisan discussions have come out in support of the plan.

Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, on the other hand, blasted the agreement for not going far enough.

Sanders is working on a $6 trillion infrastructure reconciliation plan to cover a broader range of demands.

Manchin said that he is someone who will make changes to laws when they are necessary, mentioning the Trump-era tax cuts as an example. The senator also admitted that the nation’s debt cannot meet all of these demands at the same time.
