House Speaker Nancy Pelosi scolded Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene because she verbally assaulted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Pelosi also stated that this outrageous behavior is unacceptable and that it might further lead to an ethics violation, Fox News informed.
Washington Post reporters were witnesses of the aggressive confrontation between Greene and Ocasio-Cortez, in front of House chamber on Wednesday.
Pelosi stated that Green’s conduct is on the line of bringing honor or not bringing dishonor to the House that it should be a matter of the Ethics Committee.
According to the Washington Post Greene shouted at Ocasio-Cortez while they were both leaving the House chamber on Wednesday. The republican was screaming at the democrat about her support of Black Lives Matter and Antifa and also she said that she would like have a debate over Ocasio-Cortez’s radical socialist views.
The spokeswoman for Ocasio-Cortez Lauren Hitt emphasized that it is really important for the Sergeant at Arms and the leadership to take serious action in order to make all Members and staff of the Congress feel safe in its premises.
Greene, however, said that she did not scream at the Democrat Representative and marked all those claims as lies.
She took to Twitter to bash Ocasio-Cortez saying that the Democrat is scared to debate her for the Green New Deal and added that the New York Representative is the one that the Ethics Committee need to investigate.
Greene was already stripped of her assignments in the committees for earlier comments she placed on social media some of which were in support of using violence against Democrats and other were pure conspiracy theories.
House Speaker Pelosi said she is disappointed that GOP leaders have not condemned members of their party lines.
