Former President Donald Trump dismissed the idea that President Joe Biden is an “old” guy, according to Washington Examiner.
During an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity that aired on Monday, Trump was asked how he would grade Biden’s performance so far. Trump turned to the topic of age, which has become a constant subject of attack by the Democrat’s critics.
“So, he’s going to be 79 years old. That is not old. I know many people in their late 80s that are just as good as they were years ago. I spoke to one who’s 92 years old. He said, ‘I feel better than I did 20 years ago.’ Seventy-eight, 79 is not old,” the 74-year-old Trump said.
Biden is 78.
“I don’t think it’s even appropriate for me to comment on that. It sort of speaks for itself. I mean, people can make their own determination,” Trump added. “I know that if it were me, they would be up and down going crazy. Right?”
Trump, who lost his bid for reelection in 2020 to Biden, has not said whether he will run again, indicating in the past that he’ll wait and see how the 2022 midterm elections go for the Republican Party, but he would be 78 years old in November 2024.
Trump also mentioned a time when he gingerly walked down a ramp, which received a great deal of media scrutiny, and compared it to what he claimed was a lack of attention to Biden stumbling three times as he walked up the steps to Air Force One last month after recovering from a fractured foot.
“Air Force One is a very big plane. And usually, what they try and do is shield the wind. You know, when they park it, you can turn it in angles, and so you don’t ever have too much. I’ve never seen too much wind,” Trump said.
“It can get a little windy, but not the kind of wind that blows you over,” he added. “But if you look at mainstream media, or as you say, ‘Lamestream media,’ they didn’t cover that. If that were a Republican, in particular, if it was me, that would be the biggest story for the rest of the year.”
