The office of Rep. Marjorie Tylor Greene (R-Ga.) said that, for a second time Twitter temporarily suspended her account, The Hill reported.
In a statement from her campaign sent by e-mail, the office said that on Friday morning at around 1 a.m. without any explanation on the “alleged violation,” Twitter suspended Greene’s personal account @mtgreene. The suspension lasted 12 hours.
A screenshot of the message that Twitter sent to Greene was also included in the statement, in which is stated “we have determined that you have violated the Twitter Rules, so we’ve temporarily limited some of your account features.”
As written in the screenshot, Greene cannot tweet, retweet or like other tweets from her account, but she can browse Tweeter and send direct messages to her followers.
In the statement, Greene made a connection between the suspension of her Twitter account and the recent resolution introduced by Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-Calif.) to formally expel her from the Congress, given her previous comments in which she supported violence against Democrats.
“This move eliminated any possibility for congresswomen Greene to defend her reputation, her seat, and most importantly the votes of 230,000 Georgians in the 14th District on the Twitter platform,” it’s said in the statement from Greene.
In February, the House voted for Greene to be removed from her committee positions, due to her involvement in conspiracy theories support as well as her support of statements for violence against Democrats.
Although was not clear which of Greene’s posts directly led to suspension, her Twitter account was also suspended in January over “multiple” violations of the platform’s civic integrity policy.
