BIDEN JOB APPROVAL: AVERAGE 56%
Up 1 from Thursday
RON’S COMMENT: Today’s average is based on six polls, ranging from 50% (Rasmussen) to 63% (The Hill). Without these extremes it would still be 56%…. Biden’s disapproval rating averages 36% today (-1 from Thursday).

MAYOR: NEW YORK CITY

Eric Adams: 17%
Scott Stringer: 12%
Maya Wiley: 8%
Kathryn Garcia: 2%
Ray McGuire: 1%
Shaun Donovan: 1%
Diane Morales: 1%
RON’S COMMENT: This poll of Democratic voters in NYC was conducted for Yang, an entrepreneur and a recent Democratic presidential candidate…. Adams is Bronx Borough president and supported by Edolphus Towns…. Stringer is City Comptroller and supported by Jerry Nadler, Adriano Espaillat and Jamaal Bowman…. Wiley is a New School professor and former counsel to Mayor de Blasio…. Garcia is former Sanitation Commissioner…. McGuire is a former Citigroup executive and is supported by Valerie Jarrett and Spike Lee… Donovan was Obama’s Secretary of HUD and Director of OMB…. Morales formerly ran a social services non-profit…. Other candidates each received below 1%…. Incumbent Bill de Blasio is term-limited and can’t run again…. Party primaries are June 22 and the general election is Nov. 2; ranked-choice voting will be used.
CONGRESS: PARTY ISSUE HANDLING
Among voters nationwide
Who do you trust more to handle each of the following issues?
% = Democrats in Congress/Republicans in Congress
Climate change: 56%/21% (D+35)
The environment: 57%/23% (D+34)
Coronavirus: 53%/25% (D+28)
Protecting Social Security/Medicare: 52%/29% (D+23)
Healthcare: 52%/30% (D+22)
Education: 51%/29% (D+22)
Energy: 49%/30% (D+19)
Immigration: 47%/36% (D+11)
The economy: 47%/37% (D+10)
Jobs: 45%/37% (D+8)
National security: 43%/37% (D+6)
Gun policy: 42%/38% (D+4)
RON’S COMMENT: Since Biden has taken office, Democrats in Congress have picked up big leads on most issues. Previously, Republicans usually led on national security and the economy, and often tied on immigration. Democrats now lead them all…. Note that Democrats have a whopping 28-point advantage on handling the coronavirus––which is much wider than the lead they had before the election.
Among voters statewide
Personal and job ratings:
Pres. Joe Biden (D)
Sen. Raphael Warnock (D):
Sen. Jon Ossoff (D):
Gov. Brian Kemp (R)
RON’S COMMENT: Majorities of voters in Georgia rate Biden and Warnock favorably and nearly half rate Ossoff favorably. Kemp, who is up for re-election next year, is net negative…. Republican Kemp, who has been harshly criticized by Donald Trump, has a job approval rating of 61% among Republicans, 28% among Democrats and 54% among independents…. From a report on the poll:
- “… 58% of Georgians say the Republican members of Congress who tried to stop the formal certification of Biden’s victory were ‘undermining’ democracy, compared with one-third who see them as ‘protecting’ the electoral system.”
