Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden is leading President Donald Trump by 16 points according to a poll released by CNN on Tuesday.
Biden has 57, while Trump has 41 percent of the votes in the survey, making this the biggest lead Biden had before Trump in the presidential campaign.
The results come after the first presidential debate and the news that Trump had coronavirus. According to the survey, Biden leads Trump with big numbers on a couple of topics, like the racial inequality, where Biden leads with 62 to 36 percent, or the crime and public safety topic where he leads 77 to 41 percent.
Biden also leads on topics like nominating a Supreme Court Justice, health care, and the coronavirus pandemic. Trump leads on issues like the economy. Biden is also more trustworthy according to 58 percent of the people that were asked in the survey, while Trump had 33 percent of the people on this.
According to The Hill, while most surveys show Biden leading Trump among women, the CNN poll shows him beating Trump among women by a 2 to 1 margin, at 66 to 32 percent. This is an increase from a September poll that put his lead at 20 percentage points. The former vice president’s lead among people of color has also widened, from 28 points in September to 42 points in October.
Fifty-seven percent of respondents who watched last week’s debate said that Biden did the better jobs, compared to 26 percent who chose Trump and 14 percent who said neither. People also think that Biden has a better plan to solve American issues.
The poll included around 1,205 adults and it has a 3.3 – point margin of error overall and a 3.6 point margin of error for likely voters. The poll was made on October 1-4.
